International Zine Library Day Workshop
Wednesday, June 17, 2024
1–3pm
ArtCenter Library, Hillside Campus
International Zine Month 2024 is here, inviting artists, writers, and enthusiasts to embrace the spirit of self-expression. Dive into a world of DIY publishing, where every page tells a unique story. Join the movement, share your voice, and let your imagination run wild during this month-long celebration of zines!
June 21st marks International Zine Library Day. Libraries celebrate around the world to uplift underrepresented and marginalized voices, whether people of color or from indigenous cultures, people with disabilities, youth, LGBTQIA+ communities, persecuted religious groups, people with financial struggles, and many subcultures. International Zine Day was started on June 21, 2009 by Alex Wrekk, the founder of Brainscan Zine.
ArtCenter Library will be hosting a Zine Workshop on June 17th. We will have magazines and other print materials ready to collage into a new creative project. Start a new page, or feel free to bring a current project (take advantage of our easy black-and-white portable copiers) and see what you put together!
