The ArtCenter Library & Learning Resources Familia would like to wish everyone a happy National Hispanic (Latinx) Heritage Month.

For over 50 years, Hispanic Heritage Month has been celebrated in the United States from September 15 – October 15. The tradition began as a week-long event in 1968, expanding to a month-long recognition in 1988. The beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15th honors the Independence Day of several Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. September 16th is Independence Day in Mexico, September 18th is Independence Day in Chile, and September 21st is Independence Day in Belize.
