In honor of National Poetry Month, please join us on Friday, April 14th from 1pm - 4pm for a fun afternoon of expressing yourself by making blackout/erasure poetry and collage! Come and socialize with your peers and meet new faces at ArtCenter while we share, read and create poetry together.
What is blackout poetry or erasure poetry? It is a form of “found poetry” where you select words that catch your eye from a newspaper, book, old magazine or other printed text. Then you take a marker to the printed text and redact the other words on the page until a poem is formed. Both the words you leave on the page and the redacted text combine to form a visual poem. Blackout poetry lives at the intersection of poetry and art and is a refreshing way to boost your creativity!
Those who participate may also submit their creations to be published in a Library zine that we will add to our zine collection.
(This event is limited to 15 participants.)
